If you’re looking for new music to fill your playlist this summer we may have something for you.
Recently, Breaking Benjamin announced the release of an acoustic album that was filled with special guests that including Flyleaf’s singer, Lacey Sturm.
Well now, this matchup has gone one step further as Benjamin Burnley revealed that he and Sturm could very well be teaming up for a serious project in the very near future.
Burnley teased the project when he appeared on Cutter’s RockCast and went into detail about his 10-year+ friendship with Sturm.
He said: “I don’t know if she’d be mad at me for saying anything about it, but me and Lacey have been talking about doing another band, putting a band together,” and added: “We just wanna do, like, a record … We’ve been talking a bit here and there about it. It’d just be something different.”
“One of the first tour, I think, (Flyleaf) ever did – not the first, but one of the first tours they did ever – was with us,” adding “And it was a lot of fun. It was a lot different back in those days. Enough success to have fun, but not overboard, and it was all new and everything.”
Talking of Sturm specifically, Burnley explained: “I was really blown away by her inflection and her style,” he said. “If you think I’m unique, she is one hundred percent unique — but in a good way. Sometimes singers that are unique, for me … sometimes people are different just to be different … but she’s different and … (doing) her own thing.”
“She’s a really positive person and does put off a positive vibe, which is really refreshing, especially for me (because) I can be a negative person,” he continued. “She’s just a really nice, sweet, genuine person. Singing-wise, I really respect her.”
