Corey Taylor has given fans and update as to where Slipknot’s new album currently stands. And, if he’s correct, the direction of the new album will whip fans of the masked metallers into a frenzy.
That’s right, they’re going there, as Taylor put it to rock publication Kerrang!, the album is in the vein of Slipknot’s beloved 2001 album Iowa. In fact, Taylor called it: “Iowa levels of heavy.”
Taylor said: “We have 16 songs written right now, and they are f***ing dangerous,” Taylor says, adding that the new music makes Slipknot’s most recent album, 2014’s .5: The Gray Chapter, “look like nobody’s business.”
Although the album is only in its ‘demo phase,’ the tracks are moving along and the band are planning to get into the studio early in 2019 and hope to have product out later that year. Taylor said: “Be prepared for 2019.”
Until then, fans can get to hear Taylor as a guest on a new track called “The Hunt” from fellow metal band Code Orange.
