Iron Maiden released “A Christmas Cheers” as a big thank you to all of its fans.
The animated Christmas video was created by artist Val Andrade as a salute to the band’s army of fans’ support over the past year.
And what a year it was. Maiden’s 2015 release, The Book Of Souls smashed its way to the top of the charts in over 40 countries. The band also launched a brand new ‘Eddie’ to join the group’s legendary line of mascots.
The group’s 16th album, produced by Kevin Shirley, landed Iron Maiden the No. 4 spot on the US Billboard 200 with opening week sales of 75,000 copies.
These first week numbers were the band’s best since Nielsen Music started tracking sales in 1991. The chart position mirrored Iron Maiden’s best chart ranking ever–matching the No. 4 placement of 2010’s The Final Frontier.
In the UK, The Book Of Souls topped three separate charts upon release, taking the No.1 position on the UK albums, Official Vinyl Albums and the Official Record Store charts.
Maiden will launch a world tour next year to support The Book Of Souls. Kicking off in the U.S. on February 24th in Fort Lauderdale, FL, the band will then move on to Central and South America before returning to the States at the end of March. With the band taking in Europe and the rest of the world after the U.S. shows, Maiden will be hard at work for most of next year.
