Guitar legend Jimmy Page is giving players the chance to have his killer tone. It has been announced that he is about to make available a limited-edition Sundragon guitar amplifier, this also co-insides with this month’s 50th-anniversary celebration of the release of “Led Zeppelin I.”
Revealed as: “a faithful recreation of the amp that Jimmy used exclusively to create the groundbreaking sounds on ‘Led Zeppelin I‘ and other notable recordings”
He used this amp as one of the UK’s top studio musician’s, the tone from this amp was used on Joe Cocker’s classic album debut, “With A Little Help From My Friends.”
The story of this particular amp is cool as well, Page’s original amp was a Supro Coronado; story has it that it fell out of the back of the band’s van during a pre-Zeppelin tour, when the amp was repaired, it was also modified, upon hearing it Page realized that the sound of the amp had changed into something new and unique.
Kept under wraps for more than 50 years, Page has now decided to share the unusual amp with the world in this 2019 limited-edition series.
Page recreated the amp with Mitch Colby and Perry Margouleff and said of the team: “I had been impressed with the forensic analysis both Mitch and Perry had put into the research of the sonic reproduction of the original Supro amp to arrive at the Sundragon.”
