What is old is new again apparently. My Chemical Romance’s Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge is back on the charts after re-entering the Billboard 200 for the first time in over a decade.
There is no one reason as to why the band’s 2004 album is having such a resurgence, but our best guess is that there has been a few things connected with the band: The bands front-man Gerard Way, and award-winning artist Gabriel Bá created the comic book The Umbrella Academy, which is now a Netflix series, certainly didn’t hurt album sales. Plus, guitarist Frank Iero’s new album Barriers, has been released with his band the Future Violents.
When you add the fact that tomorrow (Friday, March 22nd) will mark the sixth anniversary of MCR announcing their breakup, all these may well have become a factor for the album re-charting.
Three Cheers peaked at number 28 on the Billboard 200 on its initial release, but it hovered around the chart for almost 80 weeks.
