You’ve got to love this, Coldplay revealed a brilliant chimp-led music video for the track, “Adventure Of A Lifetime” yesterday. This is the band’s first single taken from the soon to be released album, A Head Full Of Dreams.
The video was directed by Mat Whitecross, and the concept was apparently thrashed out when Coldplay singer/ songwriter, Chris Martin ran into actor and motion capture expert, Andy Serkis (King Kong, Lord Of The Rings,) on a flight where the two hatched a cunning plan to collaborate.
The video, which began with a studio shoot of the boys in full motion performance capture rigs, took six months to make. Why so long? Well, the video included animators working with motion capture experts, Imaginarium to transform the four musicians into 3D chimpanzees, and as you can see, it was time well spent.
A Head Full Of Dreams will be released December 4th and is the band’s follow up to 2014’s Ghost Stories, Coldplay’s sixth consecutive worldwide chart topper.
For those pre-ordering the album from iTunes ahead of its release, you will receive instant downloads of both “Adventure Of A Lifetime” and another new song, “Everglow”.
