Longstanding music magazine NME has revealed its nominees for the 2016 NME Awards. Heading up the pack is Wolf Alice; the band has earned the nod in six categories, including: Best British Band, Best Live Band, Best Album, Best Track, Best Music Video, and Best Fan Community.
No surprise to anyone this year is the inclusion of Florence + the Machine. Florence Welch is a multiple nominee as well–after what was already a unbelievable 2015, she’s up for 2016’s Best British Solo Artist and Hero of the Year. Florence also received a nod for Music Moment of the Year, this is in part because of her headlining set at Glastonbury. For those of you who don’t know, Dave Grohl broke his leg in Sweden during a gig. He finished the show anyway, which then led to Foo Fighters canceling its Glastonbury set and having Florence fill in. Grohl is also up for Hero of the Year, and Foo Fighters is nominated for Best International Band.
NME’s other nominees include: Best International Band, Alabama Shakes, The Killers, The Strokes and Tame Impala. In the Best British Band category joining Wolf Alice are Foals, The 1975, and Catfish and the Bottlemen.
As usual NME will be giving out the award for Worst Band, and heading the pack this year are, Nickelback and U2.
