Primus front-man Les Claypool has let slip that the band will be supporting legendary thrash metal band Slayer during the final leg of band’s farewell tour.
Claypool was talking with comedian Bill Burr on his podcast, and let it slip by saying: “There’s another thing too that’s kind of a secret but maybe I can tell you now,” Claypool then went into detail: “So, it looks like we’re confirmed, we’re gonna play the last, the very last run supporting Slayer’s very last tour — Primus is. It’s starting at Madison Square Garden and ending at The Forum, that’s the rumor.”
We have to assume that Slayer was waiting to share the news but oops. Anyway, now it’s out in the open, we’ve loved the bill throughout Slayers farewell tour that has included: Lamb of God and Anthrax, who have been on the tour throughout. Behemoth, Testament, and Napalm Death joined along the way, and with the news that Primus has signed on for the final leg, this tour just got even better.
The next stop for Slayer will be their spring North American leg with direct support from Lamb of God, Amon Amarth, and Cannibal Corpse.
Kicking off on May 2nd in Phoenix, Arizona, this part of the tour winds down on May 25th show in Mansfield, Massachusetts. Next up will be Europe, where the band will do both headlining shows and festival dates.
