Ermm, yup, so this is actually happening. Police in Montana, have started using AC/DC’s music to heard Bison off of roads. Apparently it’s being seen as a harmless and relatively safe way of dealing with the problem. The beasts regularly wander onto the roads around Yellowstone National Park in search of new grazing areas. However, this can be a safety issue for motorists and the Bison themselves.
Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office had confirmed that they use AC/DC a favourite track being hells bells, but not the perhaps obvious choice of highway to hell. We’re not quite sure how this managed to make the news everywhere either, but the image was somewhat amusing so here we are.
“Being a deputy around West Yellowstone comes with unusual duties, including herding bison off the highway so no one gets hurt,” they wrote.
“When deputies respond to a bison on the road, they turn on lights and siren and encourage the animal to leave the road with an air horn.
“With a reluctant bison, they’ve been known to play AC/DC’s Hell’s Bells over the speakers – that usually seems to work.”
We’re assuming that it’s more that the cops like AC/DC than the bison having a specific hatred of the band.
So, not quite the official AC DC news about a new album we’ve all been hoping for, but oh well.
