U2 Shares Behind the Scenes Video of North American Tour

-

Irish rockers U2 launched their  eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE Tour 2018 on Tuesday night, and they play in St. Louis, MO tonight at the Scottrade Center.

Via the bands official YouTube channel, you can get a sneak peek, behind-the-scenes look at the bands upcoming tour.

In the short video U2’s guitarist The Edge tells us that: “The idea of this tour is to finish telling the story of ‘innocence’ and ‘experience,'” he is of course referencing the themes of the group’s Songs of Innocence and ‘Songs of Experience’ albums which were released in 2014 and last December.

In the video The Edge gives us a tour of the “barricage,” this is the 100-foot-long elevated cage that allows the band walk over the crowd in arenas while videos are projected onto its sides. It’s pretty awe inspiring to say the least.

Going into detail The Edge explains: “It’s almost 20 tons in weight, suspended from the roof of this arena,” the guitarist points out. “And it might seem like a strange place to go to work, but for us, this is just what we do.”

As well as The Edge, the band bassist Adam Clayton explains: “For me, innocence is about great things happening and grabbing them with both hands, and experience is about great things happening and knowing which ones to grab.”

It really is a wonder to see, and as The Edge also explains: “Technology for us is only really fun when it’s in something that it wasn’t really designed to do. And now with the visual opportunity that the technology gives us, we can make the songs louder, make the songs more interesting, make the songs more emotional. It’s gonna be a wild ride.”
