If you’re a Pink Floyd fan, then you are going to love this. A very rare piece of film of the band has surfaced, and we’ve got it right here for you to take a look at.
The film we’re talking about, is a promotional video that shows the band performing ‘Apples And Oranges.’
Written and released back in 1967, ‘Apples And Oranges’ was the Floyd’s third single release and was also historic in the fact that it waqs the last song written by by Syd Barrett before he left the band.
In the video, which was recorded in a fruit market in Belgium, David Gilmour had taken Syd Barrett’s place and in a pre-cursor to every video to come after that, Roger Waters is seen lip-synching to the track.
The rare footage is available on the bands huge box set The Early Years 1965 – 1972. It was split into a six volume set and released back in march of this year.
The liner notes on the set explain that: “From the single Arnold Layne to the 20-minute epic Echoes, fans will see the invention of psychedelic progressive rock via an insightful collection that explores the Pink Floyd story from the time Roger Waters, Richard Wright, Nick Mason and Syd Barrett met at London’s Regent Street Polytechnic, through to Syd’s departure and David Gilmour joining to form the iconic lineup.”
