Cashing in on the anniversary of the time Ozzy bit the head off a bat on stage, he has released a plush toy to mark the event.
The legendary moment went down in Des Moines, Iowa, on Jan. 20th, 1982, when the former Black Sabbath singer had a bat thrown at him from the crowd, for whatever reason, Ozzy thought the bat was fake, put it in his mouth and consequently ripped its head off. The problem here was that it was real.
Ozzy tweeted: “Today marks the 37th Anniversary since I bit a head off a f*cking bat,” adding: “Celebrate with this commemorative plush with a detachable head.” The 12-inch-tall bat is described as a “web exclusive”, and is available for $40. The website describes the toy in the following way: “Bring the legendary moment in rock history to life with this soft toy plush bat, featuring the Ozzy Osbourne logo and a velcro detachable head.”
The Birmingham native has come a long way from the dark excesses of his earlier days. Only last month that the former hellraiser talked about his hedonistic past and the fact that he thought that being drunk and f**ked up on drugs was fun. He said: “I now think, ‘How did I think going into a bar and getting smashed and doing all that cocaine was fun?’” adding: “I have come to think that if, right now, you had a gun, a bag of cocaine and a gallon of booze and you said, ‘Take your pick,’ I’d pick up the gun. It’s not worth it.” He reported: “I’m just enjoying life now to the fullest. I don’t drink alcohol anymore. I don’t smoke tobacco. I don’t use drugs. … I’m doing good right now.”
